Swansea City in for Bamford

Swansea City could be set to make a move for Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford,.

The South Wales club is on the lookout for a potential replacement for Bafetimbi Gomis, who has been strongly linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium and Bamford, who recently cut short his temporary deal with Crystal Palace could fit the bill.

The England U21 international barely featured for Alan Pardew’s side having joined up with them in the summer, but has proven he has an eye for goal across loan spells with MK Dons, Derby County and Middlesbrough.

He is yet to make a senior appearance for his parent club, who he signed for from Nottingham Forest in January 2012.

Swansea drew with Palace on Monday afternoon, with Bamford missing the best chance of the game…

Sandro Tonali turned down Barcelona and Manchester United because he wanted to join Milan, according to Brescia president Massimo Cellino.

Tonali is a three-time Italy international and starred for Brescia in 2019-20, although they were relegated from Serie A.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Inter, but is now set to join Milan.

Cellino said Tonali was eager to join Milan despite offers from Barcelona and United.

In January we received an offer of €65million from Barcelona. Not later than 10 days ago we received an offer of 10 million higher than Milan s from Manchester United, he told Top Calcio 24.

But the boy was determined to go to the Rossoneri.

Cellino added: I know that [Antonio] Conte has thought a lot about T…

Injuries hit hard at Blackburn

Blackburn have eight senior players unavailable for Saturday s clash at Sunderland while defender Chris Samba is also in doubt.

But new manager Steve Kean, who enjoyed his first win at West Brom on Tuesday, still believes he can field a team capable of forcing another positive result.

We are stretched, no doubt about that, said Kean. However, the long list of unavailable players means chances elsewhere, especially for the young players.

We have a game plan and I think we can give Sunderland a really good game.

If we can pick up a point, or maybe even all three, then it would really set things up for the second half of the season.

Gary O’Neil disgusted by Mark Robins’ behaviour in front of Wolves ball boy

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil described the behaviour of Coventry counterpart Mark Robins “disgusting” after he celebrated his side’s remarkable FA Cup quarter-final win in the face of a 13-year-old ball boy.

The Championship outfit stunned their Premier League opponents with two goals in added time to seal a 3-2 victory and book a first semi-final in this competition since they won it in 1987.

It was after Haji Wright’s winner at the death that Robins showed a rare sight of emotion by celebrating in front of a ball boy, who had irked him moments before.

Robins offered an unprompted apology in his press conference after the game, but O’Neil said the teenager was left distressed.

Mourinho bullish on Torres future

Jose Mourinho has had no discussions with Fernando Torres over his future amid talks of a move to Serie A side Milan.

Spain international striker Torres arrived at Stamford Bridge in January 2011 from Premier League rivals Liverpool for a then British-record £50million fee.

However, the 30-year-old has struggled at the London club, netting just 20 top-flight goals during his three-and-a-half-year stint and he has also slipped down the pecking order this season following the arrival of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and Didier Drogba s return.

Subsequently, Torres has been rumoured with a switch to Milan who are seeking a replacement for new Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

Chelsea manager Mourinho has not spoken to the former Atletico man regarding a…

Ancelotti for Aston Villa?

Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as a contender for the vacant manager s position at Aston Villa.

Ancelotti was sacked by Chelsea after the London club failed to defend their English Premier League title and suffered a quarter-final exit in the Champions League to Manchester United.

Villa are on the hunt for a new boss after they parted ways with Gerard Houllier on Wednesday because of concerns over the 63-year-old s health.

The Frenchman suffered a heart scare in April and was forced to miss the club s final five matches of the season with Gary McAllister standing in.

Dutchman Guus Hiddink, however, remains the name most frequently linked with the job at Stamford Bridge.

Hiddink is in charge of the Turkish national team, and was …

Bayern Munich 4 Juventus 2 (agg 6-4): Guardiola´s men progress after incredible comeback

Bayern Munich snatched a Champions League quarter-final spot from the jaws of defeat by beating Juventus 4-2 after extra time on Wednesday.

Thomas Muller was Bayern s saviour with an equaliser in the 91st minute, forcing the additional period as a 2-2 scoreline mirrored last week s in Turin, before Thiago Alcantara and Juventus loanee Kingsley Coman stepped up to see off last season s finalists.

Massimiliano Allegri was unable to call upon key men Paulo Dybala, Claudio Marchisio and Giorgio Chiellini, but a stunning display of counter-attacking had them 2-0 up at the interval through Paul Pogba and Juan Cuadrado.

Bayern had blown a two-goal advantage in the first leg and were relentless in ensuring the Italians suffered a repeat of sorts.

Germany 4 Italy 1: World champions ease to victory in Munich

Germany ended a 21-year wait for a win over Italy as they scored two goals in each half to record a resounding 4-1 triumph in Munich on Tuesday.

Having thrown away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to England on Saturday, Joachim Low s side bounced back in style to end a seven-match winless streak against their opponents.

Toni Kroos scored his second international goal in as many matches when his right-footed attempt from just outside the area broke the deadlock in the 24th minute.

Mario Gotze headed in his 17th goal for Germany on the stroke of half-time, while any fears the hosts might suffer another second-half collapse disappeared when full-back Jonas Hector broke his duck for the national team just before the hour mark.

Barcelona want Llorente

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have been linked with a somewhat surprising move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente. The former Spain international has been with Spurs since 2017 when he made the jump over from Swansea City, with Barca sniffing around for a back up forward. Llorente would be filling in the gap left by Munir El Haddadi, who recently made the jump over to fellow La Liga side Sevilla.

Athletic Bilbao are also in the running to sign him, which wouldn’t be the most surprising possibility in the world. Llorente was with Bilbao for seven years in his youth before returning to the club for a nine year spell, during which time he made well over 300 appearances.

Llorente hasn’t quite been able to hit the ground running as he…
