The Real Madrid goalkeeper withdrew from the Red Devils squad on Sunday after sustaining a minor strain.

Only Real Madrid can win Champions League – Christian Karembeu

Christian Karembeu says Real Madrid are the clear favourites to lift the Champions League for a third year in a row.

Madrid have been off the pace domestically this season with Barcelona 15 points clear of them in LaLiga, while they were dumped out of the Copa del Rey by Leganes in the quarter-finals.

Success in Europe has been more forthcoming for Zinedine Zidane s side, though, with a comprehensive 5-2 aggregate victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16.

And Karembeu believes the two-time defending champions are the only side left in the competition who can win the title – despite Barca, Manchester City and Bayern Munich joining them in the quarter-finals.

Don t even ask the question, the former Madrid midfielder told Omnisport, speaking courte…

Stankovic denies talk of Inter return

Udinese assistant coach Dejan Stankovic has distanced himself from a return to Inter, though the Serb will not rule out a future move to Milan.

Stankovic is working alongside former Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni at Stadio Friuli this season after hanging up his boots in 2013, and the 36-year-old has already been linked with a return to the San Siro.

The 36-year-old called time on his career after nine years at Inter, where he won 15 trophies, including five Serie A titles and the UEFA Champions League.

But talk of a reunion with Inter coach Roberto Mancini is premature, according to Stankovic, who said: An article came out claiming I would be reunited with Mancini on the bench, but that s light years away from it actually happening.

I am fully concentra…

Eduardo back for next season after more surgery, say Arsenal

Arsenal s Croatian striker Eduardo Da Silva, who suffered a horrific leg break last year, has undergone fresh surgery but should be fit for the start of next season, the club said Wednesday.

The operation, carried out in Amsterdam, involved the removal of metal screws that were placed in his left ankle following the injury.

Eduardo underwent simple revision surgery on his left ankle, Arsenal said in a statement. The operation went well and Eduardo will follow a dedicated rehabilitation programme throughout June.

He is expected to return to full training in pre-season with the rest of the squad.

Da Silva, 26, suffered a compound fracture of his left leg as a result of a tackle by Birmingham defender Martin Taylor at St Andrews in February 2008.

Mancini: Tevez will make Juventus stronger

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has backed Carlos Tevez to be a success at Juventus.

The Argentinia international completed a €12million move to the Serie A champions on Wednesday, bringing an end to his four-year stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Mancini had a famous falling out with the former Manchester United striker during a UEFA Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich in September 2011, when Tevez allegedly refused to enter the game as a substitute.

But the Italian is convinced the Argentina international will improve the Juventus squad, especially in European competition.

Tevez knows how to make a difference, maybe not everyone realises the value of the player: we are not (just) talking about a good striker but of a champion, his arrival …
