Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone expects Valencia to be direct in attack when the Spanish clubs meet in the Europa League on Thursday.
Atletico will host the semi-final first leg and Simeone expects Valencia to use longer passes when attacking away from home.
They tried to play quick high passes (the last time they played Atletico) so we ll see tomorrow what they come here to do, the Argentine coach said.
I remember after they played us they went to Barcelona and there they tried to play short passes and that didn t work that well.
I think tomorrow they will try to quick high passes and not play short passes surely.
Either way, Simeone is wary of Valencia s attacking strength, with Roberto Soldado the main threat having scored 26 goals this season.
We play against a very strong rival that has players with a lot of quality, Simeone said.
They are a very attack minded team that is very fast and obviously they generate a lot of scoring chances every match.
We have to play a good match if we want to get a positive result.
The two Spanish clubs also clashed in the Europa League in the 2009/10 season and Atletico went through on away goals.
But Valencia go into the semi-final as favourites due to their superior league position.
Valencia are third in Spain s La Liga, while Atletico are seven points behind them in eighth.
But Atletico striker Adrian Lopez believes his side may have an advantage because the Europa League is their priority.
We ve worked very hard for us the whole year to get here and we really want to get to the final, Lopez said.
We are now in the semis and tomorrow we have to give it our all in our home turf with our fans.
It will be a very difficult match against a tough rival but we play at home and will do everything we can to get a good result.
